This made-to-measure armrest cover arrives in a warm gray that stops well short of stark white. It’s soft against oak and striking against black metal, which makes it surprisingly versatile. The pile is plush and close-cropped, with a smooth, almost liquid hand—deeper than a woven fabric, with none of the shag of a long-pile plush. Soft on top, sturdy underneath. Dry cleaning is recommended, and brushing the pile back into line keeps it looking new. As velour goes, this one leans plush and warm, which makes it a natural in farmhouse spaces.
