Custom Cushion Cover Buying Guide

Most custom cushion covers are made in about 5–7 business days after we receive all required measurements, photos, and order details.

Once your covers are finished, they ship directly from our Queens, NY workshop.

Yes. We make custom cushion covers to your exact measurements for indoor furniture, outdoor furniture, benches, window seats, boats, RVs, campers, playrooms, daybeds, and more.

If your cushion is not a standard size, a custom cover is usually the right choice.

Yes. We can make covers for T-shaped cushions, L-shaped cushions, square cushions, rectangular cushions, trapezoid cushions, wedge cushions, curved cushions, and many other custom shapes.

For unusual shapes, photos and clear measurements are especially helpful.

That’s exactly why custom cushion covers are useful. If your cushion has curves, angles, cutouts, rounded corners, boxed edges, or an unusual shape, we can usually create a cover to match it.

Yes. Many customers order new cushion covers while keeping their existing foam or cushion inserts.

This is a great option when the cushion itself still feels comfortable, but the fabric is worn, stained, faded, outdated, or damaged.

No, unfortunately. We're happy to offer some ideas about where you can find replacement foam inserts, but these often need to be custom-made as well. 

Yes. We make many custom outdoor cushion covers for patio furniture, pool furniture, outdoor sectionals, porch seating, benches, boats, and RVs.

For outdoor use, choose outdoor or indoor/outdoor performance fabrics designed for sun exposure, moisture, and everyday weather conditions.

For outdoor cushions, we recommend indoor/outdoor performance fabrics or outdoor-rated fabrics. These are designed to handle more sun, moisture, and daily exposure than standard indoor fabrics.

For uncovered spaces, darker colors may fade more visibly over time in direct sun, so fabric and color choice both matter.

For high-traffic cushions, we usually recommend high-durability fabrics, performance twills, performance weaves, heavyweight canvas, heavyweight twill, and tightly woven pet-friendly fabrics.

These options are a good fit for family rooms, rental properties, kids’ spaces, breakfast nooks, kitchen benches, RVs, boats, and furniture that gets used every day.

For pets, look for tightly woven, pet-friendly, scratch-resistant, and high-durability fabrics. These tend to resist snagging better than loose weaves and delicate decorative fabrics.

If your pet scratches, digs, or jumps on the cushions often, avoid open weaves, delicate textures, and fabrics with large raised patterns.

Yes. Custom cushion covers are a great choice for playrooms, reading corners, floor cushions, benches, window seats, daybeds, and kids’ furniture.

For kids’ spaces, we usually recommend durable, easy-care fabrics in colors or textures that help hide everyday wear.

Yes. We make custom boat cushion covers for many types of marine seating, including bench cushions, berth cushions, cockpit cushions, cabin cushions, and custom-shaped boat cushions. In some cases this will require a special order fabric, so it might take longer to produce.

Boat cushions often have unusual shapes, angles, or curves, so photos and careful measurements are important.

Yes. We make custom RV cushion covers, camper cushion covers, and vanlife cushion covers for dinettes, benches, beds, fold-out seating, and built-in cushions.

These cushions are often non-standard sizes, so custom covers are usually the best solution.

Yes. Bench cushions and window seat cushions are some of the most common custom cushion cover projects.

We can make covers for long benches, breakfast nooks, mudrooms, bay windows, reading nooks, built-ins, entryway benches, and similar spaces.

Yes. Custom cushion covers can be used for daybed cushions, daybed mattresses, trundle cushions, guest room seating, and similar projects.

If your daybed uses a standard Twin or Queen mattress, you may also want to browse our daybed mattress cover options. If it is a custom size, a custom cushion cover is usually the better fit.

Measure the width, depth, and thickness of the cushion as accurately as possible (up to about 1/4 inch is fine).

If the cushion has curves, angles, boxed edges, piping, rounded corners, or a T-shape, follow the measurement guide carefully and send photos if you’re unsure.

Do not add extra inches “just in case.” Accurate measurements usually produce the best fit.

If you're planning to remove the old cover, measure the insert, but most of the time it's best to measure along the outside cover. 

Just note that if you take the old cushion cover off to measure, these can shrink, stretch, sag, or lose shape over time.

Don’t panic. We review the information you provide and may use photos, shape details, and follow-up questions to help confirm the order before production.

Yes. We offer both a zipper closure or an elastic closure, which can be a bit more affordable. The exact construction depends on the product, cushion style, and your selected options.

Check the product page for details, or contact us if you need a specific closure style, like a wrap-around, bottom zip, or anything unique.

Unfortunately, no. While your original cushion can have a clean boxed edge, piping, welt cord, or other tailored details, we don't currently offer these added reupholstery finishes. (It tends not to look as good as a clean box corner on a cushion cover.)

Care instructions depend on the fabric you choose. Some fabrics may be machine washable, while others should be spot cleaned or dry cleaned only.

Always check the fabric care instructions before washing. For custom covers, spot cleaning or professional cleaning is often the safest long-term option.

Some fabrics can shrink, especially natural fibers like cotton if they are washed or dried (even air dried in the hot sun).

To protect the fit, always follow the fabric care instructions. When in doubt, avoid heat and try spot cleaning or dry cleaning.

Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Fabric can look different in your home than it does on a screen because of lighting, flooring, wall color, and nearby furniture.

Swatches help you compare color, texture, softness, and durability before placing a custom order.

Yes. Many customers coordinate cushion covers with sofa slipcovers, sectional slipcovers, ottoman covers, dining chair covers, throw pillows, bolster pillows, and fabric by the yard.

If you’re trying to coordinate a full room, contact us and we’ll help you choose fabrics that work together. Just note that if you're trying to do everything in phases, not every fabric roll is 100% identical due to the manufacturing and dying process. It's best to order everything at the same time if at all possible.

Yes. You can order a single replacement cushion cover or a full set, depending on what you need.

Single cushion covers are useful when one seat is stained, faded, torn, or more worn than the rest of the furniture. But matching colors is never 100% perfect, so it can sometimes look better to match all the cushions at the same time.
