Chat, automated assistant and AI tools
The chat on our website is answered by an automated assistant, not a live person. It can hand your conversation to our team, who reply by email or phone.
Chat conversations are saved, along with the page you were on and any email address or order number you provide, so our team can follow up. If you give the assistant your email address and ask to hear about offers, we add you to our marketing list. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We also use AI tools to help our team draft replies to emails and to summarize conversations. A member of our team reviews drafted email replies before they are sent. The companies that provide these tools process your messages on our behalf and are not permitted to use them for their own purposes.
Emails, calls and texts
When you email, call or text us, we keep a record of the conversation, including voicemails and message content, so we can help you, resolve disputes and train our team. By contacting us through these channels you consent to this.
Measurements and photographs
Measurements and photographs you send us are used to make and check your order, to resolve fit questions, and to train our team and improve our measuring guides. We may also use photographs, measurements and project details you send us in our marketing, including on our website, in advertising and on social media, as described in our Terms of Use.
Cookies and advertising
We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to run the website, remember your cart and preferences, understand how the site is used, and show and measure advertising. Our advertising and analytics partners include search engines, social media and advertising networks, email and marketing platforms, analytics providers, AI platforms, and other companies that help us reach customers and measure results. These partners may change over time.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share identifiers and browsing activity with advertising partners so that we can show you relevant ads on other sites. Some state laws call this a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or "targeted advertising." You can turn it off at any time:
- Use the Your Privacy Choices link in the footer of our website, or
- Turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser. We treat it as a request to opt out.
Other than Global Privacy Control, we do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no common standard for them. Other parties may collect information about your activity over time and across websites when you use our site.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with:
- Service providers that work for us: ecommerce and website hosting (Shopify), payment processing, shipping carriers, email and marketing (Klaviyo, Google Workspace), phone and text service, reviews (REVIEWS.io, eKomi), application hosting and data storage for our measurement portal, AI providers that power our automated assistant and drafting tools, and spam prevention
- Advertising and analytics partners, as described above
- Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public
- A buyer or successor if our business is sold or merged
We do not share your personal information with other companies for their own direct marketing.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above:
- Order, payment and tax records: as long as the law requires, generally seven years
- Measurements, photographs and project notes: while your order is open and afterward so we can help with reorders and fit questions, until you ask us to delete them
- Chat, email, call and text records: as long as needed to support you and resolve disputes, until you ask us to delete them
- Marketing contact details: until you unsubscribe
You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Your choices and rights).
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information, except what we must keep by law or to complete an order
- Stop sharing your information for advertising
- Stop sending you marketing email (every message also has an unsubscribe link)
To make a request, email support@slipcovershop.com or call (718) 478-5234. We will confirm it is you by matching details from your order or by replying to the email address on file. You may have someone you authorize make the request for you. We respond within 45 days, and we will never treat you differently for making a request.
California residents
If you live in California, the following applies in addition to the rest of this policy.
- What we collect. In the past 12 months we collected the categories listed in the table above: identifiers, customer records, commercial information, internet activity, audio and visual information (voicemails and photographs you send), and inferences about product preferences.
- Why. For the purposes listed under How we use information.
- What we disclose. We disclosed each category to service providers for business purposes. We shared identifiers and internet activity with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, which California law treats as "sharing."
- Sale. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
- Sensitive information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a right to limit.
- Your rights. You have the right to know, to delete, to correct, to opt out of sale or sharing, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. Use the Your Privacy Choices link, the Global Privacy Control signal, or the contact details above.
- Shine the Light. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Residents of other states
Residents of other U.S. states with consumer privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete and opt out of targeted advertising, and may appeal a decision we make on a request by replying to our response.
Children
Our website and products are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where information is processed
We are based in the United States and ship within the United States only. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the Effective Date above. If a change is significant, we will also post a notice on our website.
