Sectional Slipcover FAQ
How long does it take to make a custom sectional slipcover?
Most custom sectional slipcovers are made in about 7-10 business days after we receive all required measurements, photos, layout details, and order information.
Because sectionals often include multiple pieces, modules, or cushion shapes, the review process is especially important. Once your cover is finished, it ships from our Queens, NY workshop.
Can you make slipcovers for L-shaped sectionals?
Yes. L-shaped sectionals are one of the most common sectional projects we handle.
We’ll need to understand the full layout, including which side the chaise or extended section is on, how the pieces connect, and whether the cushions are loose, attached, square, T-shaped, or custom-shaped.
Can you make slipcovers for chaise sectionals?
Yes. We can make custom covers for many chaise sectionals, including left-facing and right-facing chaise layouts.
Photos are very helpful because chaise sectionals vary a lot. Some have one long chaise cushion, some have separate seat cushions, and some are modular pieces arranged together.
What does left-facing or right-facing sectional mean?
Left-facing and right-facing usually describe which side the chaise or extended section is on when you are standing in front of the sectional and looking at it.
If you’re unsure, don’t worry. Send us photos from the front and sides, and we can help identify the layout before you order.
Can you make slipcovers for modular sectionals?
Yes. Modular sectionals are often a good fit for custom slipcovers because each section can be reviewed as its own piece.
For modular seating, it’s important to tell us whether the modules are always kept in the same arrangement or if you plan to move them around. That can affect the best cover approach.
Can I cover only part of my sectional?
Yes. Some customers order covers only for the most heavily used sections, such as the chaise, corner seat, ottoman, or main sofa section.
This can be a practical option if one part is faded, stained, worn, or damaged while the rest of the sectional still looks good. Just note that the fabrics might not match exactly, so it can be best to do a whole set of the cushions together, for example.
Can you make separate covers for each sectional module?
Yes. In many cases, separate covers for each module create a cleaner fit and make the sectional easier to handle, install, move, and clean.
This approach is especially useful for modular sectionals, pit sectionals, U-shaped sectionals, and large family-room seating arrangements.
Can you make one large cover for an entire sectional?
Sometimes, but one large cover is not always the best option. Sectionals usually fit better when individual pieces, cushions, or modules are treated separately.
A single oversized cover can be harder to install, harder to keep in place, and less tailored around corners, chaises, and separate seating sections.
Can you make slipcovers for U-shaped sectionals?
Absolutely. U-shaped sectionals usually require careful review because they may include corner wedges, chaises, armless seats, ottomans, and multiple cushion shapes.
Please send photos and layout details before ordering so we can confirm the best approach.
Can you make slipcovers for curved sectionals?
Yes. We do it all the time. Curved sectionals and rounded backs require more careful measurement and review than straight sectionals, but our measurement guide makes it simple.
Photos from several angles are important. We may also need extra measurements to understand the curve, seat shape, back shape, and how the pieces connect.
Can you make covers for sectionals with rounded backs?
No problem. Rounded backs, barrel-style backs, curved corner pieces, and wraparound backs can usually be reviewed for a custom cover.
Because these shapes are harder to understand from measurements alone, send clear photos of the front, back, side, and top view if possible.
Can you make slipcovers for wedge or corner sectional pieces?
Yes. Wedge and corner pieces are common in sectional layouts, but they need careful measurement because the front, back, and side angles may all be different.
If your sectional has a corner wedge, include photos and measurements of that piece separately from the rest of the sofa.
Can you make slipcovers for pit sectionals?
Yes, and we're doing more and more like this all the time. Pit sectionals usually work best when each module or cushion is treated separately rather than trying to cover the entire arrangement with one large cover.
Let us know whether you keep the pit configuration in one fixed layout or rearrange the pieces regularly.
Can sectional slipcovers fit attached cushions?
Yes, we can make covers for many sectionals with attached seat cushions, attached backs, or partially attached cushions.
Attached cushions vary a lot, so photos are especially important. We need to see how the cushions are connected and where the seams, arms, backs, and corners are located.
Can sectional slipcovers fit loose cushions?
Yes. Loose cushions are usually a good fit for custom sectional covers because the base and cushions can often be covered separately.
Separate cushion covers usually create a cleaner, more tailored result than one loose cover over everything.
Can you make covers for T-shaped sectional cushions?
Yes. T-shaped cushions are a common custom request, especially on sectionals with arms or chaise sections.
Because T-cushions extend around or beyond the arm, they usually do not work well with ready-made covers. A custom cover is the better choice for a clean fit.
Can you make covers for odd-shaped sectional cushions?
Yes. We can often make covers for trapezoid cushions, wedge cushions, curved cushions, chaise cushions, oversized cushions, and other unusual shapes.
For unusual shapes, photos and exact measurements matter. Do not add extra inches “just in case.” Accurate measurements are the best starting point.
How do I measure a sectional for a slipcover?
Measure each section, module, cushion, arm, back, and chaise area separately. Sectionals are easier to review when they are broken down piece by piece.
We give you a step by step measurement guide to make it simple after checkout. If you have questions, though, we're always happy to chat on the phone or via video call.
Should I measure the whole sectional or each individual piece?
For most sectional projects, each individual piece or module should be measured separately.
This helps us understand the layout, shape, and proportions more accurately than one overall width or depth measurement.
What photos should I send for a sectional slipcover?
Send photos from the front, both sides, back, and above if possible. Include close-ups of cushions, corners, arms, seams, chaise sections, wedges, and any unusual details.
If the sectional is modular, it can also help to show the pieces slightly separated so we can see how they connect.
What if I do not know the brand or model of my sectional?
That’s completely fine. Most custom sectional covers are made from your measurements and photos, not the original brand or model name. That's because no two sofas are EXACTLY alike. Wear and tear, construction, and little details can make a big difference.
If you do know the brand, model, or retailer, include it with your order details. It can sometimes help, but it is not required in most cases.
Can you make slipcovers for IKEA sectionals?
Yes. Many customers order covers for IKEA sectionals and modular IKEA seating.
If you know the model name, include it. We may still ask for measurements and photos to confirm the exact layout and cushion style.
Can sectional covers work on leather furniture?
Yes, sectional covers can be used on leather furniture, but leather is smooth and can be more slippery than fabric upholstery.
A custom fit and the right fabric choice can help. Textured or structured fabrics may stay in place better than very slick fabrics. Order a fabric swatch to ensure it'll cover the color and look the way you want it to in the room.
What fabric is best for a family-room sectional?
For family-room sectionals, we usually recommend high-durability fabrics, performance twills, performance weaves, heavyweight canvas, heavyweight twill, and pet-friendly fabrics.
Sectionals often get heavy daily use, so durability, cleanability, and comfort usually matter more than delicate decorative texture.
What sectional slipcover fabric is best for pets?
For pets, choose tightly woven, pet-friendly, scratch-resistant, and high-durability fabrics. These tend to resist snagging and wear better than loose weaves or fabrics with open texture.
If your pet scratches, digs, or jumps on the sectional, avoid large loops, open weaves, and delicate raised patterns.
What sectional slipcover fabric is best for kids?
For kids, look for durable, forgiving, easy-care fabrics. Performance fabrics, textured weaves, darker colors, and subtle patterns can help hide everyday wear.
For playrooms, movie rooms, rentals, and family spaces, choose fabric based on real-life use first.
Can I use outdoor fabric for a sectional slipcover?
Yes. Indoor/outdoor performance fabric can be a good choice for sunrooms, screened porches, rentals, high-traffic rooms, or spaces where spills and moisture are a concern.
If the sectional is fully outdoors, choose fabrics designed for outdoor use and follow the care instructions carefully.
Are sectional slipcovers washable?
Care instructions depend on the fabric you choose. Some fabrics may be machine washable, while others should be spot cleaned or dry cleaned.
Because sectional covers are often large and custom-made, spot cleaning or professional cleaning is often the safest long-term option. Always check the care instructions for your specific fabric.
Will a sectional slipcover stay in place?
A custom sectional slipcover will usually stay in place better than a loose ready-made cover because it is made for your furniture’s measurements and layout.
Sectionals with separate cushions or modules may still need occasional adjusting depending on how the furniture is used.
Can I order matching cushion covers, pillows, or ottoman covers?
Yes. Many customers coordinate sectional covers with matching cushion covers, ottoman covers, throw pillows, bolster pillows, armrest covers, dining chair covers, and fabric by the yard.
If you’re refreshing a full room, contact us and we can help you choose fabrics that work together.
Can I order replacement covers for only the sectional cushions?
Yes. If the base of your sectional still looks good but the cushions are worn, stained, faded, or damaged, replacement cushion covers may be a practical option.
This is often more affordable than covering the entire sectional.
Can you make sectional slipcovers for rentals or commercial spaces?
Yes. We work with vacation rentals, property managers, offices, hotels, lounges, designers, and other business customers.
For commercial or rental spaces, we usually recommend durable, performance-oriented fabrics that can handle frequent use. Here's where you can learn more about our Trade & Business Partner Program.
Do you offer trade or bulk pricing for sectional slipcovers?
Yes. If you are ordering for a designer project, hospitality space, office, property, or multi-room installation, contact us before ordering. You can learn more here.
We can help with fabric recommendations, project planning, repeat ordering, and accurate pricing for larger sectional projects.
What if I’m not sure which sectional cover to choose?
Send us photos of your sectional and tell us what matters most: fit, durability, pet protection, softness, color, cleanability, budget, or style.
We’ll help point you toward the best fabric and collection for your sectional layout and how you use the space.
