Custom Slipcover FAQ
How long does it take to get a slipcover?
Most slipcovers are made in about 5 business days in our Queens, NY workshop. Once it’s finished, we ship it right out. We're New Yorkers, so we've got to move fast.
We offer free ground shipping on most orders. In many cases, you’ll have your new slipcover in as little as two weeks from the time you order.
If you need something sooner, contact us before ordering and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
What kinds of furniture can you cover?
Pretty much anything. Standard sofas, loveseats, sofa beds, chairs, sectionals, unusual shapes—we’ve seen a lot over the years.
If you’re unsure, send a few photos to sales@slipcovershop.com and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
We cannot make covers for recliners, unfortunately. There are simply too many moving parts for a custom sewn cover to function properly long-term.
What size slipcover do I need?
Our slipcovers are available in sizes to fit most furniture styles, including sofas, loveseats, chairs, sectionals, ottomans, dining chairs, and more.
The best way to determine sizing is to measure your furniture using the sizing charts and guides available on our product pages.

Will a custom slipcover really look tailored?
Yes. That’s the whole point.
Our covers are designed to look much closer to upholstery than a loose-fitting throw cover. We use careful patterning, upholstery-grade fabrics, and construction techniques designed to create a cleaner, more structured fit.
How do I choose the right fabric or style?
Start by thinking about how the furniture is actually used.
If you have pets or kids, durability and cleanability may matter most. If you’re refreshing a formal room, you may want something softer, more textured, or more tailored.
Neutral colors and solids are often the easiest to decorate with, while patterned fabrics can add personality or help hide everyday wear.
We’re always happy to help narrow things down if you send us photos of your room or furniture.

Are your fabrics durable enough for pets and kids?
Many of them are, yes.
We carry several fabrics specifically chosen for high-traffic households with pets, children, or everyday heavy use.
If durability is your top priority, just reach out and we’ll point you toward the best options.
Can I order fabric swatches first?
Absolutely—and we strongly recommend it.
Seeing fabric in your actual home lighting makes a huge difference. Photos on screens can vary quite a bit from real life.
Swatch links are available on product pages throughout the site, and your first four swatches are free.
Can I send my own fabric?
Yes, you can. We just ask that you send a sample first so we can inspect it.
Some fabrics simply don’t work well for slipcovers, and we want to make sure the final result will look great and hold up over time.

What if my measurements aren’t perfect?
Don’t worry. We don’t rely on measurements alone.
We also review your photos, tracings, and other details to double-check everything before your cover is made. Our team has made thousands of slipcovers and knows what to look for.

How should I measure curved or unusual furniture?
We recommend using a tape measure or flexible tailor’s measuring tape when measuring curved arms, rounded backs, or unusual furniture shapes.
It’s important to follow our measurement guides carefully and avoid estimating or adding extra inches “just in case.” Exact measurements produce the best fit.
And if you’re unsure about anything, just contact us before ordering. We’re happy to walk you through it.
What if the slipcover doesn’t fit quite right?
We stand behind every cover we make.
If you’re not in love with the fit, send it back and we’ll fine-tune it until it looks the way it should.
What is your Perfect Fit Guarantee?
Our Perfect Fit Guarantee is designed to give customers confidence when ordering custom-made covers online.
We use your measurements, photos, tracings, and additional review checks to make sure your cover is patterned correctly before production begins.
If adjustments are needed after delivery, we’ll work with you to make reasonable fit corrections so the cover fits the way it should.
Can I return a custom slipcover?
Because each custom slipcover is made specifically for your furniture, we’re not able to accept standard returns.
That’s why we encourage customers to order swatches first, review measurements carefully, and contact us with questions before ordering.
If fit adjustments are needed, we’ll work with you through our Perfect Fit Guarantee.
Are your slipcovers machine washable?
Check the specific care instructions for the fabric you’re considering.
Some fabrics can be machine washed, while others may shrink slightly or wrinkle depending on heat, washing method, or climate conditions.
In general, spot cleaning or dry cleaning is often the safest long-term option. If you’re unsure, just ask us.
What about shrinkage and wrinkles?
Some natural shrinkage can occur during the first few washes, especially with certain fabrics like 100% cotton. Dry cleaning is strongly recommended for natural fabrics or any covers that are custom-made.
To minimize wrinkles, we recommend drying while laying flat and placing the cover back onto the furniture while slightly damp.
A handheld steamer is often the easiest way to smooth out wrinkles after washing.
Do slipcovers stay in place?
A properly tailored slipcover stays in place far better than a loose, ready-made cover.
Because our covers are made specifically for your furniture dimensions, they fit more securely and require far less constant adjusting.
Do EasyFit ® Slipcovers fit T-cushion furniture?
Generally, no. Pre-made EasyFit slipcovers are designed for standard square seat cushions and usually do not fit T-cushion furniture properly.
For T-cushion sofas or chairs, a custom slipcover is usually the best option for achieving a clean, tailored fit.
Do you make slipcovers for sectional sofas?
Yes. We make many custom sectional slipcovers.
Because sectionals can vary so much in shape and configuration, we usually ask customers to send photos first so we can review the layout and determine the best approach.

Can I order separate seat or back cushion covers?
Yes. You can order replacement seat cushion covers, back pillow covers, zippered cushion covers, bench cushion covers, and more.
Many customers refresh only the most heavily used parts of their furniture instead of replacing an entire slipcover set.
Can I order matching cushion covers or accessories in the same fabric?
Yes. Many customers order matching cushion covers, pillow covers, dining chair covers, ottoman covers, or additional pieces in the same fabric.
If you need help coordinating products or matching fabrics across multiple pieces, just contact us and we’ll help you put everything together.
Do you make outdoor cushion covers?
Yes. We make a large number of custom outdoor cushion covers using fabrics designed for sun exposure, moisture resistance, and everyday outdoor use.

How do I send photos of my furniture?
The easiest way is to email them directly to sales@slipcovershop.com.
Try to include a few angles of the furniture, including the front, side, cushions, and any unusual details or shapes.
How do slipcovers differ from reupholstery?
Custom slipcovers give you the same tailored, made-for-your-furniture look as reupholstery—without the cost, downtime, or hassle.
Reupholstering often takes 6+ weeks, costs thousands of dollars, requires transporting furniture, and makes your furniture unavailable during production.
Our custom slipcovers are removable, easier to update, and typically ready to ship in about a week.

Do you ship to Canada or internationally?
