Armrest Cover FAQ

How long does it take to make a custom armrest cover?

Most custom armrest covers are made in about 5–7 business days after we receive all required measurements, photos, and order details.

Once your covers are finished, they ship directly from our Queens, NY workshop.

Will an armrest cover fit a round-arm sofa?

Yes. Armrest covers can work well on rolled, rounded, and curved sofa arms when the cover is sized correctly.

If your furniture has very unusual curves or extra-wide arms, send us photos before ordering and we’ll help confirm the best option.

Will an armrest cover fit square arms?

Yes. Square and track arms are usually a great fit for armrest covers because the shape is clean and easy to cover.

Measure the width, length, and drop of the arm carefully so the cover protects the right area without looking too small or oversized.

Can I use armrest covers on a recliner?

Yes. Many customers use armrest covers on recliners because recliner arms tend to see a lot of daily wear.

For a full custom recliner slipcover, we usually do not recommend it because recliners have moving parts. But armrest covers alone can be a simple and practical solution.

What fabrics are best for armrest covers?

For armrest covers, durability matters. The arms of a sofa, chair, loveseat, or recliner are touched constantly, so we usually recommend high-durability fabrics like vegan leather or suede, pet-friendly fabrics, tightly woven performance fabrics, and spill-proof water-resistant fabrics.

What armrest cover fabric is best for homes with pets?

For pets, we usually recommend tightly woven, high-durability, and pet-friendly performance fabrics. These are less likely to snag than loose weaves and tend to hold up better to claws, paws, shedding, and repeated use. No cover is 100% scratch proof (we need to be able to cut the material, after all), but consider Ripstop or Performance Twill fabrics if you have a cat that uses your sofa as a scratching post.

If your pet likes to scratch, avoid delicate textures, loose weaves, and fabrics with large open patterns.

Are armrest covers good for protecting furniture from kids?

Yes. Armrest covers are especially useful in homes with kids because they protect the areas most likely to collect dirt, snacks, spills, sunscreen, markers, and everyday handprints.

For family rooms, we usually suggest durable, darker, textured, or performance fabrics that are more forgiving with daily use.

Will armrest covers stay in place?

Armrest covers are designed to sit naturally over the arms of your furniture. How securely they stay in place depends on the furniture shape, fabric texture, size of the cover, and how the furniture is used.

A correctly sized cover will stay in place better than one that is too small or too large.

Can I order matching armrest covers and a sofa slipcover?

Yes. Many customers order armrest covers in the same fabric as a sofa slipcover, loveseat cover, chair cover, ottoman cover, or cushion cover.

If you’re trying to coordinate several pieces in one room, contact us and we can help you choose a fabric that works across the full project.

Can armrest covers be used on leather furniture?

Yes. Armrest covers can be used on leather furniture, especially when you want to protect worn, cracked, faded, or high-contact areas.

Because leather can be smooth and slippery, fabric choice and sizing are important. A textured fabric may stay in place better than a very slick fabric.

Can I order fabric swatches before buying armrest covers?

Absolutely. We strongly recommend ordering swatches before choosing fabric, especially if you’re trying to match existing furniture or coordinate with a room.

Fabric can look different depending on lighting, screen settings, and surrounding colors, so seeing it in your home is always helpful.

How do I measure for armrest covers?

You’ll generally want to measure the top width of the arm, the length from front to back, and how far down the cover should drape on each side.

For curved or rounded arms, use a flexible measuring tape and follow the shape of the furniture rather than measuring straight across open air.

If you’re unsure, send us photos and we can help guide you.

Do armrest covers come as a pair?

Armrest covers are sold as a pair. If you just need the one, contact us and we'll provide updated pricing.

Can you make armrest covers for extra-wide arms?

Yes. Custom armrest covers are a good option for extra-wide, oversized, or unusual furniture arms.

Send measurements and photos if your arms are especially large, curved, padded, or shaped differently from side to side.

Can armrest covers help hide worn or damaged furniture?

Yes. Armrest covers are a simple way to cover worn, faded, stained, scratched, or damaged arms without replacing the whole piece of furniture.

They’re especially useful when the rest of the sofa or chair still looks good, but the arms have taken the most wear.

Are armrest covers washable?

Care instructions depend on the fabric you choose. Some fabrics may be machine washable, while others should be spot cleaned or dry cleaned.

Always check the fabric care instructions before washing. When in doubt, spot cleaning or professional cleaning is usually the safest choice.

Can I use outdoor fabric for armrest covers?

Yes. Indoor/outdoor performance fabrics can be a great choice for armrest covers, especially for sunrooms, patios, screened porches, rental homes, and high-traffic spaces.

They are designed to handle more demanding environments than many decorative indoor fabrics.

Can I order armrest covers for a business, hotel, restaurant, or office?

Yes. We work with businesses, designers, hospitality groups, offices, restaurants, property managers, and other trade customers.

If you need multiple covers, repeat ordering, fabric recommendations, or bulk pricing, contact us before ordering and we’ll help you plan the project. Learn more about our Trade and Partner Program
