Better materials.

We require upholstery-weight fabric (typically 7 to 10 ounces) and a fabric roll that is at least 54" wide. We can’t work with leather or faux leather, very delicate or lightweight fabrics, loose or fragile weaves, or materials that aren’t suited to our sewing equipment and construction methods. How it works: Start by choosing your options and telling us about your fabric, including a link if you have one, then place your order. After checkout, we’ll send you a personalized measurement guide. Once we have your measurements, we’ll confirm how many yards you need and whether your fabric is suitable. Then purchase your fabric and ship it to our workshop. In some cases, we may ask you to send a sample for approval first. You may notice that the price of this option is similar to slipcovers made with fabric from our own collection. That’s because working with your fabric takes an extra step. Before we cut into your material, we make a custom template cover to confirm the pattern, proportions, and fit. This protects the fabric you purchased and lets us make any adjustments before we produce your finished cover.

Durability Rating

Durability Rating

Durability
Your fabric choice affects how your slipcover looks and wears over time. Performance fabrics, outdoor fabrics, tight twills, canvas, and denim are the most durable, which makes them ideal for homes with kids, pets, or heavy daily use. Cotton and poly blends are soft, hold up well, and wrinkle and shrink less than 100% natural fibers. Linen is beautiful but wrinkles easily and relaxes over time, and velvet and chenille can crush or show wear on seat cushions. Look for a tight weave: if you can see light through the fabric or easily pull the threads apart, it won’t hold up as a slipcover. Light solid colors show stains more easily, while mid-tones, heathers, and small patterns hide everyday wear best.
Care Info

Always follow your fabric manufacturer’s care instructions. Cotton and linen will shrink, so if you plan to machine wash your slipcover, prewash and dry your fabric the same way before shipping it to us. Polyester, poly blends, and performance fabrics shrink little or not at all, and they’re the easiest to care for. We recommend washing cold on a gentle cycle, then tumble drying on low or air drying, and removing the cover promptly to reduce wrinkles. For the best fit, put the cover back on while it’s still slightly damp, especially with cotton and linen. Velvet, chenille, and specialty fabrics may require dry cleaning. Because we don’t make your fabric, we can’t guarantee how it will wash or wear over time.

Any size. Any style.

We are thrilled with our custom made slipcovers for our beach house. We considered having it reupholstered. So happy we did not! It looks as though we have brand new furniture!

FAQs

Most slipcovers are made in about 5 business days in our Queens, NY workshop. Once it’s finished, we ship it right out. (We're New Yorkers so we've got to move fast.)

We offer free ground shipping on most orders. In many cases, you’ll have your new slipcover in as little as two weeks from the time you order.

Pretty much anything. Standard sofas, loveseats, sofa beds, chairs, sectionals, unusual shapes—we’ve seen a lot over the years. If you’re unsure, just send a few photos to sales@slipcovershop.com and we’ll let you know what’s possible. Some fabrics work better for wingbacks, for example, so we can point you in the right direction.

We can't do recliners, unfortunately (hard to sew around so many moving parts).

People choose a custom slipcover when they want their furniture to look great and last for years—not covered up. It’s the right move for odd sizes, loose or attached cushions, T-shaped seats, or anything a one-size cover can’t handle. It’s also how you refresh a worn sofa, protect it from pets or kids, match a new room, or upgrade the fabric without reupholstering. Each piece is made to your exact measurements, so the fit is clean, secure, and built to last.

Don’t worry. We don’t rely on measurements alone.

We also review your photos, tracings, and other details to double-check everything before your cover is made. Our team has made thousands of slipcovers and knows what to look for.

If you’d like help, we can schedule a quick video call and walk you through the whole process step-by-step. We’ll show you exactly what to measure and how to do it. Just give us a ring or email us at sales@slipcovershop.com.

We stand behind every cover we make.

If you’re not in love with the fit, send it back and we’ll fine-tune it until it looks the way it should. It's part of our Perfect Fit Guarantee.*

Yes, you can. We just ask that you send a sample first so we can inspect it. Some fabrics simply don’t work well for slipcovers, and we want to make sure the final result will look great and hold up over time.

You can send samples to our office at 58-25 Laurel Hill Blvd, 2nd Floor, Woodside, NY 11377. But give us a ring or an email, first, so that we can let you know if the fabric is something we can do.

Absolutely—and we recommend it.

Colors and textures can look different on a screen. Ordering a swatch first lets you see the fabric in your home and feel the quality before placing your order.

Your first four swatches are free. After that, we just charge $0.50 for each one to cover the cost of shipping.

Not ours.

Our covers are designed to have a clean, tailored look—more like upholstery than a typical slipcover. Careful patterning and construction make a big difference.

Take a look at the care instructions, above.

While some fabrics are fine to throw in the wash, other do shrink a bit or get wrinkled after the wash. For example, even if you air dry, a hot day in Arizona could shrink a cotton blend cover so that it doesn't fit as well. It's always a good idea to spot clean or dry clean. If you're unsure, just give us a ring.

Every slipcover is cut and sewn in Queens, New York by our experienced team.

We’ve been doing this for over 20 years, and careful craftsmanship still guides everything we make.

Custom slipcovers give you the same tailored, made-for-your-furniture look as reupholstery—without the cost, downtime, or hassle. Reupholstering can take 6+ weeks, often costs thousands of dollars, and it usually means transporting your furniture to and from a shop (which can also be very expensive). Our custom slipcovers are made to your exact measurements and ready to ship in about a week or less, so you’re not living without your sofa. They’re also far easier to live with—removable for cleaning, practical for everyday use, and simple to update if your style changes.

Yes! We work with a wide range of businesses, like hotel chains, corporate facilities managers, outdoor entertainment brands, and a wide range of interior designers. If you'd like to learn more about our Partner Program and special pricing, just reach out to sales@slipcovershop.com.
