This made-to-measure dining chair cover arrives in a soft, buttery cream. Cream is the classic move for a room you want to feel bright and restful—white walls, natural fibers, a lot of daylight. The pile is plush and close-cropped, with a smooth, almost liquid hand—deeper than a woven fabric, with none of the shag of a long-pile plush. Soft on top, sturdy underneath. Dry cleaning is recommended, and brushing the pile back into line keeps it looking new. As velour goes, this one leans plush and warm, which makes it a natural in farmhouse spaces. It’s the fix for a set of chairs that are structurally fine and cosmetically finished.
